Advancing Human Development: Morocco Rises Three Places in Global Ranking

Morocco has achieved a remarkable milestone in human development, ascending three places in the global Human Development Index ranking, as revealed in the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) Human Development Report 2023-2024, released on Wednesday in New York. This achievement underscores the Kingdom's dedicated efforts in fostering education, healthcare, and economic progress, ensuring social inclusion and equal opportunities for all its citizens.

The report, regarded as a benchmark for analyzing development indicators and challenges worldwide, commends Morocco's endeavors in human development, according to a press release from the National Observatory for Human Development. Notably, Morocco has progressed from the 123rd to the 120th position globally, marking a significant advancement in its ranking – a feat unparalleled in over a decade.

Moreover, the Human Development Report highlights Morocco's ongoing efforts to address gender disparities, while emphasizing the need to continue facilitating women's access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

In a broader context, the report acknowledges Morocco's tangible achievements in sustainable development and social inclusion, while emphasizing the imperative to sustain efforts to enhance access to education, healthcare, economic integration, and combat climate change.

Celebrating this significant achievement, the National Observatory for Human Development lauds the UN's recognition of Morocco's commitment to implementing various social welfare projects, aligning with the High Royal Vision. These initiatives include significant reforms in the healthcare and education sectors, ensuring universal access to medical coverage, the introduction of direct social assistance and housing programs, and birth bonuses – all in staunch adherence to the Royal Directives.

The Observatory also commends the government's approach in implementing the High Royal Guidelines, which prioritize the family as the cornerstone of all social reforms and programs, safeguarding society from economic and social vulnerabilities.
