Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi was sworn in Tuesday before Parliament for a third six-year term. Al-Sissi, who was first elected in 2014 and reelected in 2018, begins his third term as president of Egypt after winning the presidential elections in December with 89.6% of the votes.

In a speech delivered at the end of the swearing-in ceremony, held in Parliament in the new administrative capital on the outskirts of Cairo, Al-Sissi pledged to "complete the construction process and respond to the aspirations of the people to build a modern, democratic, and advanced state," recalling the challenges the country has faced, mainly those related to terrorism and stability.

"The sudden global crises and fierce wars at the international and regional levels have imposed challenges on the state that have never had such magnitude and gravity in modern Egyptian history," he continued.

The Egyptian president reviewed the action plan for the upcoming period, which includes protecting and safeguarding Egypt's national security in a turbulent regional and international context, continuing to promote balanced relations with all international actors, and completing and deepening national dialogue.

On the economic front, strategies will be adopted to optimize the country's economic capabilities and resources, enhance economic resilience in the face of crises, and strengthen the role of the private sector as a key partner in development, Al-Sissi stated.

A comprehensive institutional reform will be adopted to ensure fiscal discipline and good governance by rationalizing public spending, increasing public revenues, focusing on more sustainable paths for public debt, and transforming Egypt into a regional hub for transportation, transit trade, new and renewable energies, green hydrogen, and its derivatives.
