In a letter addressed to His Majesty King Mohammed VI on the occasion of Morocco's Throne Day, former U.S. President Donald J. Trump reaffirmed the United States' recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over Sahara. Trump emphasized the credibility and practicality of Morocco's autonomy proposal in resolving the conflict. “I also wish to reiterate that the United States recognizes Moroccan sovereignty over Sahara and supports the Moroccan autonomy proposal, which is serious, credible, and realistic, as the only basis for a fair and enduring solution to this conflict,” he stated.
