Youssef En-Nesyri leads Fenerbahçe to Europa League round of 16
Youssef En-Nesyri played a crucial role in securing Fenerbahçe’s qualification for the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 following a 2-2 draw against Belgian side Anderlecht in the second leg of the knockout play-offs. The Turkish team had previously dominated the first leg with a convincing 3-0 victory.
En-Nesyri wasted no time, opening the scoring in just the 4th minute. However, the match was temporarily halted due to clashes between supporters. Once play resumed, Anderlecht responded with goals from Luis Vázquez in the 19th and 55th minutes, taking the lead. Despite this setback, Youssef Akçicek found the equalizer for Fenerbahçe in the 63rd minute, securing their passage to the next round based on the aggregate score.
Notably, En-Nesyri had also been instrumental in the first leg, netting his team’s third goal. His impressive form continues, as he has now scored six goals in the Europa League this season, adding to his 15-goal tally in the Turkish Süper Lig.
