Mehdi Qotbi Awarded Grand Officer of the National Order of Merit by French President Emmanuel Macron

Mehdi Qotbi, President of the National Foundation of Museums of Morocco (FNM), was elevated to the rank of Grand Officer of the National Order of Merit by French President Emmanuel Macron during a ceremony at the Elysée Palace.

Macron praised Qotbi as an "exceptional artist" and a "builder of bridges between countries and people." Qotbi expressed his gratitude for this distinction, which honors not only himself but also the team effort accomplished by the FNM.

This distinction is the highest of the French Republic, after the Legion of Honor. Qotbi had previously been made a Knight of the Legion of Honor by Jacques Chirac in 2000, an Officer of the Legion of Honor by Nicolas Sarkozy in 2010, and a Commander of the Legion of Honor by François Hollande in 2016. The ceremony was attended by several personalities from the worlds of diplomacy, culture, and the arts.
