United Kingdom to rejoin European Erasmus program in 2027
The United Kingdom has reached an agreement with the European Union to rejoin the Erasmus+ student exchange program starting in 2027. The UK had left the program at the end of 2020 following Brexit, but the new deal marks a significant step in restoring educational ties with the EU.
British Minister for EU Relations, Nick Thomas-Symonds, described the move as a major victory for young people, opening opportunities for students of all backgrounds to study and train abroad. The agreement is part of a broader effort by Prime Minister Keir Starmer, in office since July 2024, to strengthen UK-EU relations after years of tension under previous Conservative governments.
