Laprophan expands European footprint with completion of Rivopharm acquisition

Morocco-based pharmaceutical group Laprophan has completed the acquisition of Swiss company Rivopharm, marking a significant milestone in its international expansion strategy and strengthening its presence in the European pharmaceutical market.

Rivopharm is a specialist pharmaceutical company focused on specialty medicines, complex formulations, dossier development, and value-added pharmaceutical solutions. It also operates its own industrial production site and generates annual revenues of approximately $100 million.

The acquisition represents Laprophan’s first major takeover in Europe and is seen as a key step in its ambition to build a diversified global pharmaceutical platform connecting Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and selected international markets.

The transaction was carried out through Europhan, Laprophan’s European platform based in Luxembourg, which is designed to support the group’s long-term international development and provide a strategic base for expansion in Europe.

With this deal, Laprophan strengthens its industrial and commercial capabilities by integrating Rivopharm’s operations and its European subsidiaries, including entities in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Lithuania. The group already maintains an international presence through offices in India, the United Arab Emirates, and Côte d’Ivoire.

The combined structure is expected to generate synergies across manufacturing, research and development, regulatory affairs, and commercial activities. It will also enhance Laprophan’s ability to scale up pharmaceutical production and expand partnerships with global generic drug manufacturers.

Company officials say integration efforts are already underway, with both organizations working to ensure a smooth transition and accelerate shared strategic priorities. Early progress indicates strong alignment in operational processes, corporate culture, and long-term business objectives.

Industry observers view the acquisition as part of a broader trend of emerging-market pharmaceutical companies expanding into Europe to gain access to advanced technologies, diversified markets, and stronger regulatory ecosystems.

The deal also positions Laprophan as a more global player in the pharmaceutical sector, moving beyond its traditional role as a leading Moroccan group toward a more internationally integrated healthcare and biopharmaceutical platform.
