Indian automotive giant Suprajit strengthens Tangier industrial platform
Indian engineering group Suprajit Engineering is expanding the strategic role of its industrial operations in Morocco as part of a broader restructuring of its European manufacturing network.
The group has progressively shifted part of its production from Poland to Tangier, while also relocating industrial tooling and equipment-related activities previously based in Germany to its Moroccan facility. The move is strengthening Tangier’s position within Suprajit’s European supply chain, particularly in the automotive components sector.
Through its subsidiary Stahlschmidt Cable Systems, which specializes in cable systems and control solutions for the automotive industry, Suprajit is concentrating a growing share of its European industrial activities around its Tangier plant. The reorganization follows the Indian group’s acquisition of Stahlschmidt Cable Systems in 2024.
Suprajit’s Polish subsidiary, SCS Polska, was liquidated in August 2025. Part of its industrial operations was subsequently transferred to Morocco, with the objective of simplifying the production structure and improving manufacturing efficiency.
The restructuring has gone beyond the relocation of production capacity. The transfer of an industrial tooling workshop from Germany to Tangier has also strengthened the Moroccan site’s technical capabilities and industrial expertise, giving the facility a broader role within the group’s manufacturing network.
Logistics operations have also been reorganized across Europe. Suprajit has moved its regional warehouse operations, notably to Hungary, while reducing certain activities in Germany. These changes form part of an effort to create a more streamlined and cost-efficient industrial footprint.
Tangier is consequently emerging as an increasingly important manufacturing hub for Suprajit’s European activities. The Moroccan site produces, among other products, control cables used by automotive manufacturers and benefits from Morocco’s proximity to major European markets and automotive production centers.
The development reflects a wider trend among international automotive suppliers, which are increasingly reviewing their manufacturing footprints to bring production closer to key markets, optimize costs and improve supply-chain efficiency.
For Suprajit Engineering, Morocco is therefore gaining greater importance within its European industrial strategy. The concentration of manufacturing and tooling capabilities in Tangier could further strengthen the plant’s position within the automotive components value chain.
The expansion of the Tangier platform also highlights Morocco’s growing appeal as a base for international automotive suppliers serving European markets. The country’s geographical proximity to Europe, established automotive ecosystem and developing industrial infrastructure continue to support its role as a competitive manufacturing destination.
