Casablanca strengthens security measures for New Year celebrations

Authorities in Casablanca have deployed reinforced security measures for New Year celebrations, aiming to ensure public safety and the smooth running of festivities across the city.

The security plan covers various neighborhoods, with particular focus on areas expected to see high attendance. Additional personnel and logistical resources have been mobilized in anticipation of large crowds, especially as the celebrations coincide with the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, which is drawing a significant number of visitors.

According to local police officials, the operation includes fixed checkpoints as well as mobile patrols, notably traffic police units on motorcycles tasked with maintaining traffic flow while ensuring public order.

Security coverage has also been extended to major roads and key urban arteries, with support provided by central services through additional equipment and manpower. Hotels hosting tourists and teams participating in the continental football tournament are among the locations receiving special attention, along with major tourist sites and places of worship.

Authorities stressed that the reinforcement of security arrangements is proceeding under good conditions, supported by close coordination and the commitment of all security services involved.
