Two dead as building collapses in Casablanca medina
Casablanca, October 22, 2025 — Two people were killed and two others injured Wednesday morning when a four-story building partially collapsed in Derb Remad, located in the historic medina of Casablanca.
Emergency services and local authorities quickly responded to the scene to carry out rescue operations and secure the area. The building had been flagged as dangerous since 2012 and was subject to an evacuation order. Most residents had already vacated, though a few had refused to leave.
The injured were taken to Moulay Youssef Regional Hospital for treatment. Authorities have launched a judicial investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
