Morocco ranks second in Africa for mobile internet upload speeds
Morocco has strengthened its position as one of Africa’s leading digital markets, ranking second among the continent’s largest mobile internet markets for upload speeds, according to recent performance data covering the first seven months of 2026.
The latest figures indicate that Morocco achieved an average mobile upload speed of 18.8 Mbps, placing it just behind Madagascar. The result reflects the continued modernization of the country's telecommunications infrastructure and its growing ability to support the increasing demand for digital services.
High upload speeds have become an essential component of modern internet usage, enabling users to share large files, upload high-definition videos, use cloud storage services and participate in video conferencing with greater efficiency. Businesses, content creators and remote workers also benefit from improved network performance, making reliable upload capacity increasingly important.
Several African countries have recorded notable improvements in mobile connectivity, highlighting the continent's accelerating digital transformation. However, Morocco remains among the top performers, ahead of many major regional markets, demonstrating the competitiveness of its mobile network infrastructure.
The country's progress is supported by continued investment in telecommunications networks, expanding mobile broadband coverage and growing demand for digital services across both urban and rural areas. These developments have contributed to a more reliable and efficient mobile internet experience for consumers and businesses alike.
Digital connectivity has become a key driver of economic growth, innovation and social development. Faster mobile networks support online education, e-commerce, digital entrepreneurship, financial technology and a wide range of public services that increasingly rely on stable internet access.
As Morocco continues to advance its digital transformation agenda, improvements in network quality and internet performance are expected to reinforce the country's attractiveness for investment, strengthen its technology ecosystem and support long-term economic competitiveness.
