Zootopia 2 becomes Disney’s highest-grossing animated film

Disney has reached a new milestone in animation history as Zootopia 2 has officially become the studio’s most profitable animated film of all time. The sequel has surpassed the previous record held by Frozen II, according to industry figures reported by entertainment media.

Released in theaters on November 26, Zootopia 2 has generated approximately $1.46 billion at the global box office. This performance places it just ahead of Frozen II, which earned $1.45 billion worldwide and had held the top position since 2019.

The film experienced a strong boost during the Christmas holiday period. In its fifth week of release, it added nearly $88 million in ticket sales, highlighting sustained audience interest well beyond its opening weeks.

Zootopia 2 also set a speed record, reaching the one-billion-dollar mark in just 17 days, making it the fastest all-audience animated film to achieve this milestone. The story once again follows police officer Judy Hopps and her partner Nick Wilde as they navigate new challenges in the animal metropolis.

The sequel has enjoyed exceptional success in China, a market where many Hollywood productions have struggled in recent years. Analysts attribute the film’s performance to its broad appeal, family-friendly storytelling, and strong international reception.
