Vietnam’s President to visit Thailand to strengthen strategic partnership
Vietnam’s President To Lam is set to visit Thailand later this week in a diplomatic trip aimed at strengthening political, economic, and strategic cooperation between the two Southeast Asian nations.
The visit comes as both countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations and continue to expand their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which was officially upgraded in 2025. The discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, tourism, labor cooperation, and regional coordination within the ASEAN framework.
Vietnam and Thailand already maintain strong economic ties, with Thailand being Vietnam’s largest trading partner within ASEAN. Bilateral trade reached more than $22 billion in 2025, reflecting steady growth in regional commerce.
Thai investments in Vietnam remain significant, with companies active in manufacturing, petrochemicals, renewable energy, and retail sectors. Both governments are also seeking to strengthen supply chain connectivity in response to global economic shifts and increasing competition in international markets.
Officials say the upcoming talks will further reinforce cooperation in key sectors and promote sustainable economic growth, while also enhancing regional stability and integration in Southeast Asia.
