Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Deloitte Morocco Cyber Center (MCC) have joined forces to bolster Morocco's and Africa's defenses against the growing cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure and industrial operations. The partnership, announced at the prestigious GITEX Africa 2024 in Marrakech, aims to establish a state-of-the-art laboratory dedicated to protecting operational technologies (OT) and industrial control systems (ICS).

This cybersecurity initiative aims to enhance the resilience of local and regional manufacturing industries, equipping them with robust capabilities to counter the evolving landscape of cyber threats. By combining UM6P's pioneering research with Deloitte's global expertise, the initiative signals a new era of technological sovereignty tailored to African enterprises.

Imade Elbaraka, President of Deloitte Morocco Cyber Center, hailed the collaboration as a significant step toward their shared vision of security and innovation. "The laboratory represents a major advancement in our commitment to security and technological innovation," he said, highlighting the partnership's potential to deliver tailored cybersecurity solutions to meet the specific needs of local and African industries.

UM6P President Hicham El Habti echoed this sentiment, praising the alliance as a catalyst for fostering an innovative ecosystem geared towards securing industrial technologies. "UM6P's dedication to technological development and research sees this collaboration with Deloitte Morocco Cyber Center as an opportunity to strengthen Moroccan and African industries' cybersecurity efforts," he affirmed, emphasizing the fusion of resources and expertise as the foundation for groundbreaking advancements.

The unveiling of this strategic partnership coincided with GITEX Africa 2024, a premier tech and startup event that accelerates partnerships and propels the continent's entrepreneurial and innovation economy. This year's edition highlighted the transformative potential of artificial intelligence across various sectors, including cybersecurity, finance, telecoms, agriculture, and education. It also marked the launch of World Future Health Africa, a forum dedicated to digital health innovation.
