Ukraine’s energy minister Grinchuk submits resignation amid corruption scandal
On November 12, 2025, Ukraine’s Minister of Energy, Svetlana Grinchuk, announced that she had submitted her resignation. On Facebook, she stated, “I have written my resignation letter. The position has never been an end in itself for me,” and emphasized that she had allegedly committed no violations, calling speculations about her conduct “inappropriate.”
Her resignation will be considered by the Verkhovna Rada on November 18. The announcement comes amid a major corruption scandal in Ukraine’s energy sector. On November 10, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) revealed a money laundering scheme involving around $100 million, implicating seven people, including businessman Timur Mindich. Dmitry Basov, Energoatom’s security director, was arrested on November 12 with a $1 million bail. President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded the resignations of both Grinchuk and Justice Minister German Galushchenko in connection with the scandal.
