Ukraine-Russia peace talks postponed amid global focus on Iran conflict
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the next round of peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia has been postponed at the request of the United States.
According to Zelenskyy, the delay is linked to shifting international priorities as global attention turns toward rising tensions and armed conflict involving Iran. Despite the postponement, he emphasized that Kyiv remains ready to resume discussions at any moment in a format capable of advancing efforts to end the war.
The Ukrainian leader explained that his government remains in constant communication with American negotiators while continuing preparations for future talks. He reiterated Ukraine’s willingness to work jointly with international partners on security matters, including protection against drone attacks and broader defense cooperation.
Zelenskyy also accused Moscow of attempting to exploit instability in the Middle East and the Gulf region to serve its strategic interests in the ongoing conflict.
Previous rounds of negotiations involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States have already taken place earlier this year. The first two meetings were held in Abu Dhabi, while a third round occurred in Geneva, reflecting ongoing international diplomatic efforts to find a path toward de-escalation.
Although no new date has been announced, Ukrainian authorities maintain that dialogue remains essential to achieving a durable resolution to the conflict.
