U17 World Cup: France files complaint after post-match brawl with Colombia
The French Football Federation (FFF) has lodged an official complaint with FIFA following a violent confrontation between French and Colombian players at the U17 World Cup in Qatar, the FFF confirmed on Saturday.
The incident occurred on Friday after France’s 2–0 victory in the Round of 16, a match already marked by rising tension. Videos circulating on social media show a mass fight breaking out at the final whistle, involving players from both teams.
Two Colombian players were sent off — one during stoppage time and the other after the match had already ended. Footage also shows a French player being chased off the pitch by a Colombian opponent, while a member of the French coaching staff was attacked on the ground by several individuals.
Relatives of French players were even seen entering the field in an attempt to intervene and protect the young athletes.
The French Federation did not disclose the exact nature of the complaint. FIFA, the organizer of the tournament, has not yet commented on the violent scenes.
