Turkish foreign minister to visit Indonesia to strengthen strategic cooperation
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Indonesia on June 3 as part of ongoing efforts to deepen strategic relations between the two countries. The visit is expected to focus on expanding bilateral cooperation, strengthening economic partnerships, and addressing major regional and global security issues.
During meetings with Indonesian officials, Fidan is expected to explore opportunities for increased collaboration in sectors such as infrastructure, energy, transportation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, advanced technologies, and the halal food industry. Both countries have expressed a shared ambition to significantly increase their trade volume in the coming years.
Defense cooperation is also expected to feature prominently on the agenda. Officials from both sides are likely to review ongoing projects and discuss new initiatives aimed at enhancing security and defense industry partnerships.
Regional developments will be another key topic of discussion. The Turkish minister is expected to exchange views with Indonesian leaders on the situation in Gaza, broader developments in the Middle East, and international efforts to promote stability and peace. Discussions may also cover issues related to Iran, Syria, the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and security challenges in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
The visit highlights the growing importance of Türkiye-Indonesia relations, which have evolved into a strategic partnership over the past decade. Cooperation between the two nations has expanded through various international organizations and multilateral forums, including the United Nations, the G20, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, ASEAN-related mechanisms, and other platforms.
As two influential countries in the Muslim world and emerging economies, Türkiye and Indonesia continue to seek closer coordination on economic development, regional stability, and global governance issues.
