Tétouan taxi driver arrested after endangering road users

Moroccan police arrested a 39-year-old taxi driver in Tétouan on Monday morning after he allegedly committed multiple serious traffic violations and refused to comply with law enforcement orders. The operation was carried out by officers from the Tangier police prefecture in coordination with their counterparts in Tétouan, based on precise intelligence provided by the DGST.

According to official information, a police patrol initially observed the suspect engaging in several dangerous road infractions while driving his taxi. He reportedly ignored officers’ instructions to stop and continued driving in the wrong direction, posing significant risks to other road users. A video capturing the incident circulated widely on social media, drawing public attention and concern.

Following an investigation, police successfully identified the driver. He was later apprehended during a targeted security operation in the city of Tétouan.

The suspect is currently under judicial inquiry, supervised by the competent prosecutor, in order to establish the circumstances, motives, and responsibilities linked to the case and to initiate the necessary legal proceedings.
