Salé: Man fatally shot after wounding police officer with Knife
Salé, September 11, 2025 – A police intervention in the Laayayda district of Salé on Wednesday, September 10, ended with a police officer injured and a 40-year-old man, known for previous offenses, fatally shot after wielding a large knife in public.
According to local authorities, the suspect was agitated and posed a threat to both citizens and property. During the confrontation, a police officer was injured in the arm. Officers initially fired warning shots to de-escalate the situation, but the suspect’s continued aggressive behavior forced them to open fire.
The suspect was immediately transported to a hospital, where he died despite medical efforts. The injured officer received necessary treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
A judicial investigation has been opened under the supervision of the public prosecutor to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and verify that proper procedures were followed by law enforcement.
