Russian Defence Minister visits North Korea to strengthen military ties
Russia’s Defence Minister Andrei Belousov has arrived in North Korea for an official visit aimed at reinforcing military and diplomatic cooperation between the two countries.
The visit comes amid a series of high-level exchanges, reflecting growing ties between Moscow and Pyongyang. During his stay, Belousov is expected to hold talks with senior military officials and members of the North Korean leadership, as well as participate in ceremonial events.
Earlier, another senior Russian official, Vyacheslav Volodin, also traveled to Pyongyang to attend the inauguration of a memorial dedicated to North Korean soldiers. The monument honors troops reportedly involved in recent military operations linked to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
In a separate message, Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to Kim Jong Un for his country’s support, emphasizing the strengthening strategic partnership between the two nations.
Relations between Russia and North Korea have intensified in recent years, particularly in the areas of defense and security cooperation. Analysts view these developments as part of a broader geopolitical shift, with both countries seeking to deepen alliances amid evolving global tensions.
