Qatar lifts temporary maritime restrictions, resumes all sea activities
Qatar has announced the immediate resumption of all maritime activities, ending a temporary advisory that had suspended the operation of sailing and fishing vessels amid heightened regional tensions.
The decision was confirmed on Sunday in a statement issued by the country's Ministry of Transport.
Restrictions lifted with immediate effect
Under the new directive, maritime activities can resume immediately, reversing guidance issued on 29 June that had called for the temporary suspension of sailing and fishing boats until further notice.
Commercial shipping had remained exempt from the earlier restrictions and continued operating throughout the advisory period.
Authorities stress safety compliance
While restoring normal maritime operations, the Ministry of Transport urged vessel operators and sea users to continue complying with all maritime regulations and official safety instructions.
The ministry said adherence to existing procedures is essential to ensuring the highest levels of safety and security during maritime travel.
Decision follows period of regional tensions
Qatar did not specify the reason for lifting the restrictions, nor had it officially explained the original suspension.
The June 29 advisory was issued shortly after Qatari authorities reported that one of the country's nationals had died after suffering injuries caused by shrapnel linked to military operations in the region following the disappearance of his vessel.
The restoration of maritime activities signals a return to normal operations for recreational and fishing vessels, while authorities continue to emphasize vigilance and compliance with maritime safety regulations.
