Prospective Appointment of Enrique Ojeda Vila as Spain's New Ambassador to Morocco

Madrid - The likelihood of Enrique Ojeda Vila, the current Director of the House of America, assuming the role of Spain's new ambassador to Morocco is gaining momentum, as reported by the specialized site, The Diplomat in Spain.

The government is poised to appoint diplomat Enrique Ojeda as Morocco's ambassador, succeeding Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner, who has held the position for eight and a half years.

During the opening of the 8th Conference of Spanish Ambassadors accredited abroad on Wednesday, January 10 in Madrid, Díez-Hochleitner formally announced his impending departure from Rabat to his ministry colleagues.

Enrique Ojeda Vila boasts a distinguished diplomatic background, having served as an ambassador to El Salvador, Bolivia, and Chile, among other assignments. Furthermore, he has directed the Three Cultures Foundation, a prominent institution dedicated to intercultural dialogue in Spain, for a period of five years. This experience uniquely positions him to thoroughly comprehend the dynamics of the neighboring country, as emphasized by the Iberian newspaper.

The potential appointment of the seasoned diplomat, Enrique Ojeda Vila, underscores Spain's commitment to maintaining strong ties with Morocco. It reflects a strategic choice to entrust the post to an experienced envoy well-versed in the intricacies of the complex bilateral relationship.
