Navigating the Intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Insights from Anouar Sabri at the Global Sufism Forum

On the second day of the 19th edition of the World Sufism Forum, held in Madagh under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, discussions intensified around this year's central theme: "Sufism and the Future of Values in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." This event, bringing together researchers, thinkers, and academics from around the globe, explores the connections between spirituality and technology in a context where artificial intelligence is reshaping ethical and cultural boundaries.

Mr. Anouar Sabri, President of the Temporary Thematic Working Group on Artificial Intelligence: his Perspectives and Impacts, at the Moroccan House of Representatives, articulated that the rapid evolution of AI technologies presents both opportunities and challenges. He underscored the importance of integrating ethical considerations into the development and deployment of AI systems. This integration is not merely a regulatory necessity but a moral imperative that reflects the values of society. As AI continues to permeate various sectors, from healthcare to finance, the potential for misuse and unintended consequences looms large.

In his opening speech, Moulay Mounir El Qadiri Boutchich, director of the forum, emphasized the importance of this platform, which is now internationally recognized for its contributions to intellectual debates on spirituality and modernity. He highlighted that Sufism, through its moderate and balanced approach, offers a fitting response to technological upheavals, helping maintain a foundation of moral values in the face of rapid advancements in artificial intelligence.

The program for this edition features conferences and scientific debates exploring the links between spirituality and technological innovation. Parallel activities, such as a Quran recitation competition, forums dedicated to youth, and a book fair, add a cultural dimension to the event. Additionally, the "Solidarity Village," organized for the 12th consecutive year, promotes the ethical management of natural resources within the framework of technological innovation.

By bringing together prominent figures, including the Sheikh of the Qadiriya Boutchichiya Order, representatives from the Moroccan parliament, and local leaders, this gathering strengthens Morocco's position as a defender and promoter of spiritual values in an increasingly digitally dominated world.
