Netanyahu celebrates 2026 with Trump at Mar-a-Lago New Year's Eve gala
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara joined US President Donald Trump at the president's opulent New Year's Eve celebration at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida. The high-profile gathering marked the arrival of 2026 amid a backdrop of key diplomatic discussions. Netanyahu had traveled to the US earlier in the week, arriving at Trump's Palm Beach residence on Monday for talks centered on the fragile Gaza ceasefire and pressing Middle East issues.
A social media post from conservative influencer Michael Solakiewicz captured Netanyahu standing beside a tuxedo-clad Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, highlighting the leaders' camaraderie. Trump had publicly confirmed Netanyahu's attendance days earlier. The event drew a roster of prominent guests, including Trump's sons Eric and Don Jr., loyal supporter Rudy Giuliani, Emirati billionaire Hussain Sajwani, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino.
The meeting represented the fifth such encounter between the two leaders since Trump's return to the White House this year. At its core lay the Gaza ceasefire, secured in October and hailed as a cornerstone achievement of Trump's tenure. Yet, underlying tensions persist, with some administration officials expressing concerns that Israel is proceeding cautiously on the agreement's next phase.
Trump recently dismissed reports of friction, affirming that Israel has met its obligations. He placed responsibility squarely on Hamas, the Palestinian group behind the October 7, 2023, assault on southern Israel that ignited the war. "I'm not concerned about anything Israel's doing," Trump stated, while issuing a stark warning of severe consequences should Hamas fail to disarm as stipulated.
