Morocco sets hajj fee payment window for 1448 season

Morocco has announced a defined payment period for citizens selected to perform the Hajj pilgrimage during the 1448H season, setting administrative steps in motion for thousands of applicants. The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs confirmed that fee payments will take place between June 29 and July 10, 2026.

The payment process applies to pilgrims chosen through both the official national organization system and licensed travel agencies. Authorities have instructed selected candidates to complete transactions at Barid Bank branches across the country, with payment options including certified cheques and electronic transfers.

The Royal Commission in charge of Hajj has set a provisional cost of 65,000 Moroccan dirhams for pilgrims traveling under the official arrangement. Officials stressed that the figure remains indicative and may be adjusted once the final cost structure is confirmed closer to the departure period.

Selected pilgrims must also complete mandatory medical examinations before advancing to the next stage of the process. A certificate confirming physical and mental fitness is required and must be submitted to the relevant interior administration services to validate final eligibility.

The selection is based on a lottery system that determines participation each year due to limited capacity. Authorities regularly emphasize that compliance with deadlines and documentation requirements is essential to secure travel arrangements and avoid disqualification from the pilgrimage process.

Hajj remains one of the central pillars of Islamic practice, drawing large numbers of Moroccan citizens annually. The administrative framework surrounding registration, payment, and medical clearance is designed to organize travel flows and ensure readiness for departure to Saudi Arabia.
