Iran: Official Threatens to Make Israel “Uninhabitable” Within an Hour
An alarming warning from a senior Iranian political figure has added another layer of tension to the already volatile relationship between Tehran and Tel Aviv. Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, has threatened that Israel could become “uninhabitable in less than an hour” if Iran’s national security or strategic interests were targeted.
The statement, published on the social media platform X, was accompanied by a map identifying several Israeli infrastructure facilities as potential targets in the event of a confrontation.
Strategic Infrastructure Identified as Potential Targets
The map reportedly highlights facilities considered essential to Israel’s daily operations and national infrastructure. Among the locations identified are electricity-generating stations, desalination plants, oil installations, bridges and major transportation routes.
The inclusion of desalination facilities is particularly significant, given their importance to Israel’s water supply. Electricity production and transportation networks are similarly critical to maintaining essential services and economic activity across the country.
The map also identifies the Dimona nuclear research facility in the Negev Desert, one of Israel’s most strategically sensitive installations.
By highlighting these locations, Azizi's message appears designed to underline the potential consequences of a direct confrontation and demonstrate the range of infrastructure that could be exposed to retaliation.
Tehran Issues a Warning Against Any Action Targeting Its Interests
Azizi linked his threat to what he described as a possible miscalculation involving Iran’s national security or interests. His remarks suggest that Tehran is seeking to communicate the seriousness of its response should it consider itself the target of hostile action.
Iranian state broadcaster Press TV also circulated the statement, giving the warning additional visibility within the country's official media environment.
The intervention comes against a backdrop of persistent regional tensions and heightened concerns over the possibility of further military escalation between Iran and Israel.
A Threat That Raises Questions About Regional Security
Although the language used by the Iranian official was particularly forceful, the statement should be understood as a political and strategic warning rather than confirmation of an imminent military operation.
The publication of a target map does not, by itself, establish Iran's operational capabilities or demonstrate that it could achieve the outcome described within the announced timeframe.
Nevertheless, explicitly identifying essential civilian and strategic infrastructure as potential targets reinforces concerns about the risks of any wider confrontation. Damage to water, electricity and transportation systems could have serious consequences for civilian populations and the stability of the region.
Azizi's declaration therefore represents another escalation in the rhetoric exchanged between Tehran and Tel Aviv, at a time when any miscalculation could further complicate an already fragile regional security environment.
