Morocco launches faster delivery system for digital driving documents
Morocco has introduced a new system to modernize the sorting and distribution of electronic driving licenses and vehicle registration certificates, aiming to reduce delays and improve service efficiency. The initiative was launched in Bouskoura by Abdessamad Kayouh, minister of transport and logistics, as part of a partnership between NARSA and Barid Al-Maghrib.
The new process centralizes all administrative documents immediately after they are printed by Dar As-Sikkah. They are then sorted using dedicated technical systems at a centralized facility before being distributed through a nationwide network of more than 700 agencies operated by Al Barid Bank and Barid Cash. Authorities say this structure will streamline logistics operations and reduce routing errors and delivery delays.
The system is expected to handle more than 1.5 million documents this year, with volumes projected to double within two years. Delivery times to distribution points should not exceed 72 hours, a change that is expected to shorten the overall waiting period for users to less than two months from application to final collection.
Officials say the reform is part of a broader effort to modernize administrative services and improve user experience across public systems. The collaboration involves the transport ministry, NARSA, Barid Al-Maghrib, and Bank Al-Maghrib through its printing branch, reinforcing coordination between logistics, financial, and regulatory institutions.
The rollout reflects a push to digitize and accelerate public service delivery in Morocco, particularly in areas with high demand such as licensing and vehicle registration. By centralizing operations and leveraging existing postal and banking infrastructure, authorities aim to increase reliability while handling growing volumes of requests.
