Moroccan security forces have dealt a significant blow to narcotics trafficking with the interception of a colossal 10.5 tons of cannabis bound for international smuggling. The operation unfolded in the port city of Agadir, where authorities intercepted a suspected smuggling vessel in the early hours of Sunday morning.

This meticulously coordinated operation was a joint effort between the General Directorate of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), the Royal Moroccan Navy, and the Royal Gendarmerie. Intelligence provided by the DGST played a crucial role, allowing authorities to pinpoint a fishing boat flagged for facilitating the illicit drug trade.

Acting swiftly on the gathered intelligence, law enforcement officials swooped in on the vessel, apprehending 13 individuals suspected of involvement in the narcotics trafficking ring. These suspects are now in custody as investigations escalate to identify potential accomplices and unravel the intricate network of the criminal enterprise.

This decisive action underscores Morocco's steadfast commitment to combating drug trafficking, both domestically and internationally. The enormity of the seizure, totaling 10,542 kilograms of cannabis, serves as a potent testament to the vigilance and effectiveness of Moroccan security forces.

In the aftermath of this significant seizure, Moroccan authorities remain determined in their mission to dismantle narcotics networks and curtail the flow of illicit substances across borders. As the investigation progresses, the nation's law enforcement agencies stand ready to deliver further blows to the illicit trade that poses a grave threat to society.
