Moroccan robotics team wins global championship, inspiring youth innovation

The Moroccan high school robotics team, “Robotics For Future,” from 11 Janvier High School in Moulay Yacoub, has achieved a remarkable victory by securing first place at the World Robotics Championship held at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Massachusetts, USA. Competing against 108 teams from around the globe, the team excelled in the Robot Performance category.

A triumph of innovation and skill

The Ministry of Education announced that the team’s innovative project was recognized as one of the best at the competition, earning them a spot on the main stage to showcase their work. According to the ministry, the victory is the culmination of months of hard work and ambition.

This marks the second consecutive win for “Robotics For Future” at the championship, further solidifying their reputation as trailblazers in youth robotics. Their accomplishments have brought pride to Morocco and highlighted the potential of young talent in the country.

Local support fuels international success

The Moulay Yacoub province attributes this achievement to growing investments in education and innovation. The province has actively supported the team by facilitating their participation in competitions and providing resources to enhance their skills. Notably, a robotics space was created for the team with a budget of MAD 271,750 as part of a broader youth development program.

The province also announced the launch of a new project in 2025 aimed at fostering creativity and advancing technical skills in robotics and programming. Developed in partnership with the Provincial Human Development Committee, the Ministry of Education’s local office, and the Matrix Association for education and cultural development, the project will benefit over 4,000 students in the region. With a budget of MAD 600,000, the initiative seeks to inspire innovation and strengthen Morocco’s position in the global robotics landscape.

A vision for the future

The project coincides with the 20th anniversary of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), reflecting Morocco’s commitment to nurturing young talent and advancing education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As the nation continues to celebrate “Robotics For Future” and their accomplishments, the initiative aims to empower the next generation of young innovators and position Morocco as a leader in the global tech community.
