Moroccan handicraft exports rise 11% in 2025
Moroccan handicraft exports continued their upward trend in 2025, recording an 11% increase and reaching a total turnover of over 1.23 billion dirhams, according to the State Secretariat for Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy.
Traditional clothing saw the strongest growth, rising 75% and increasing its share of total exports from 11% in 2024 to 17% in 2025. Pottery and stone products remained dominant, representing 36% of total exports, while Moroccan rugs kept their second-place position with an 18% contribution. Jewelry exports also grew significantly, up 52%.
Key export markets performed differently. The United States remained Morocco’s top export destination, accounting for 49% of total exports with nearly 25% growth. France, while still second, saw a decline in its share from 14% to 11%. The Turkish market stood out with exports multiplying 2.5 times compared to 2024, reaching a 6% share of total exports.
Regional export hubs also showed varying results. Marrakech and Casablanca retained first and second positions, but their shares decreased slightly. Fès recorded impressive growth of 81%, increasing its export share from 13% to 21%, while Tangier grew 24% to reach an 8% share.
Overall, these figures highlight the resilience and international competitiveness of Morocco’s handicraft sector, despite global economic pressures.
