Maroc telecom and European Commission strengthen dialogue on digital sovereignty
Maroc Telecom has engaged in high-level discussions with the European Commission to deepen cooperation on digital sovereignty, a key issue shaping global technology strategies.
The meeting brought together Mohamed Benchaaboun and Henna Virkkunen on the sidelines of a major technology event, where they explored shared challenges related to the control and protection of digital infrastructure.
Talks focused on critical areas such as cybersecurity, data governance, and the resilience of telecommunications networks. Both sides emphasized the growing importance of securing digital systems as economies become increasingly dependent on technology and connectivity.
For Maroc Telecom, digital sovereignty is closely tied to its role as a leading operator across Morocco and several African countries. The company continues to invest in next-generation networks, cloud infrastructure, and security systems to ensure reliable and secure services for millions of users.
The European Union has also made digital sovereignty a strategic priority, aiming to strengthen its technological independence and protect sensitive data. Cooperation with African partners is seen as essential to addressing common risks and building robust digital ecosystems.
This dialogue reflects a broader trend toward international collaboration in managing digital transformation. As cyber threats grow and global tech competition intensifies, partnerships between regions are becoming crucial to ensure sustainable and secure technological development.
