As part of the International Day of the Girl celebrations, eSTEM Morocco, in collaboration with the Social Innovation Lab at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), recently launched the Titrit Collaborative Council on the Benguerir campus. This initiative aims to empower young Moroccan girls by enhancing their skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

A step towards female empowerment

The launch brought together seventeen girls from various regions of Morocco, including Martil, Dakhla, Inezgane, Khouribga, and Casablanca. These participants, former students of programs like Technovation Girls, TechGirls, and DigiGirlz, had the opportunity to collaborate for two days to design the structure and objectives of the Council. This preparatory work is aligned with the upcoming edition of the eSTEAM Festival.

Developing leadership skills

The event focused on developing leadership skills within the group. The participants were encouraged to work together on practical projects and create a unified vision. With support from eSTEM Morocco and the Social Innovation Lab, they co-designed the structure and activities of the Council. At the end of the workshop, an action plan was established to be implemented in different regions across the country, in line with eSTEM Morocco’s goal of engaging 50,000 girls in STEM by 2025.

A network of mentorship and inspiration

The Titrit Collaborative Council is more than just an educational initiative; it also provides a platform for mentorship and empowerment. The participating girls will become STEM ambassadors in their communities, inspiring other young girls to explore these fields, often seen as inaccessible. This approach aims to promote inclusion and equality while encouraging a new generation of Moroccan women to face future challenges in science and engineering.

eSTEM Morocco: A key player

Founded in 2013, eSTEM Morocco is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting STEM education and careers for girls in Morocco. It has received several international distinctions, including the Global Citizen Education Award from the United Nations Foundation and the Aspen Digital Equity Accelerator label. In 2023, eSTEM Morocco launched "Titrit," a digital platform offering training, mentorship, and networking opportunities for young girls across the country. The following year, the organization was honored with the Women’s Empowerment Award at the Global Electronics Forum.

A lasting impact

The Titrit Collaborative Council represents much more than just an educational program; it is a movement toward a future where Moroccan girls can thrive in technical fields often dominated by men. By creating a strong network of STEM ambassadors, this initiative aspires to transform not only individual lives but also the collective perception of women's capabilities in these fields.

Ultimately, this innovative initiative fits perfectly into the current dynamic aimed at strengthening the role of women in STEM in Morocco. The Titrit Collaborative Council is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when a community unites around a common goal: to lift young girls towards a future filled with opportunities and success in science and technology.
