Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley leave dozens dead

Airstrikes carried out by Israel in eastern Lebanon have left at least 47 people dead in the Bekaa Valley, according to preliminary information from Lebanese health authorities.

The deadliest strike reportedly occurred near the village of Nabi Chit, where dozens of casualties were recorded after a large-scale bombardment hit the area. Local officials indicated that many residents were killed and several others injured as buildings and infrastructure suffered significant damage.

Emergency teams and medical services were deployed to search for survivors and assist the wounded. Hospitals in nearby towns have been working to receive injured residents and provide urgent care.

In a separate incident earlier the same day, an airstrike struck the village of Chmestar in the district of Baalbek. Authorities reported that six people were killed in the attack, including women and children, raising further concerns about civilian safety in the region.

The latest violence comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where cross-border confrontations and military operations have intensified in recent months. The Bekaa Valley, located near the border with Syria, has historically been a sensitive security zone due to its strategic location.

Humanitarian organizations have warned about the potential impact of continued strikes on civilian populations, particularly in rural communities where access to medical and emergency services can be limited.

Regional and international observers continue to call for restraint and diplomatic efforts aimed at preventing a broader escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.
