Hundreds gather in Carcassonne to honour teenager killed in alleged ambush

Several hundred people took part in a silent march in Carcassonne on Saturday to pay tribute to Louis, the 17-year-old who died after being violently assaulted in what investigators have described as a planned ambush in nearby Narbonne.

The memorial procession was organised at the request of the teenager's father and drew around 500 participants, according to local reports.

Community pays tribute

Carrying a banner reading "Louis, we love you," family members, friends and local residents walked through the city centre in a peaceful demonstration of remembrance and solidarity.

Many participants wore black-and-white T-shirts bearing the teenager's portrait, which had been distributed by his family ahead of the event.

The march began in silence before participants later chanted messages including "Justice for Louis", "Louis, we love you" and "Neither forgotten nor forgiven."

Family calls for remembrance

During the gathering, Louis's father, Nicolas Hervé, delivered an emotional address, describing his son as "a kind boy" and urging those present to keep his memory alive.

He thanked supporters for attending and called for continued efforts to ensure that justice is served.

Investigation continues

Louis died in late June after suffering severe injuries during an assault on the evening of 19 June in Narbonne.

According to investigators, the teenager was lured into an alleged ambush where he was attacked by several youths. French media have reported that the assault was filmed by those involved.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack and the responsibilities of those implicated.

The case has generated widespread public attention in France, prompting calls for justice from the victim's family and members of the local community.
