Houthis declare total ban on Israeli Red Sea navigation

The group stated that any vessel linked to Israel operating in the area would be treated as a military target. The declaration comes amid heightened military exchanges between Israel and Iran that have widened concerns over a broader regional confrontation.
The announcement was delivered by the Houthi military spokesperson, who said the decision established a full blockade on Israeli-linked shipping through one of the world’s most strategic maritime corridors. The group also claimed responsibility for missile operations targeting locations described as sensitive sites in the Jaffa area. It said the strikes achieved their intended objectives and signaled an escalation in its operational posture.
The Houthis framed their actions as part of a wider regional confrontation involving multiple states and aligned armed groups. They stated that their military response would intensify in line with developments in what they described as a broader conflict involving Israel, Iran, Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen.
