Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Gender Equality: A Call to Action
Carmen Morte-Gómez, the distinguished head of the Council of Europe's Office in Morocco, recently underscored the pivotal role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the fight against gender discrimination and the advancement of equality. Speaking at a study day in Rabat on March 8th, Morte-Gómez passionately advocated for leveraging AI's transformative potential to identify and eliminate ingrained biases, challenge harmful stereotypes, and foster inclusive representations across all aspects of public life.
"Artificial intelligence has become ubiquitous in our lives, and we must seize this opportunity to combat gender inequality," declared Morte-Gómez, emphasizing the urgency of the matter.
Acknowledging the commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to women's issues, as evidenced in the 2022 Throne Speech and the Royal Letter addressing the revision of the Family Code, Morte-Gómez commended the significant strides towards gender equality.
Morte-Gómez's impassioned plea urged society to embrace AI's capabilities fully, envisioning a future where women's status is elevated, and inclusivity thrives. This call aligns with global efforts to address gender disparities and empower women worldwide.
Joining Morte-Gómez in highlighting the event's significance was women's rights advocate Zhour El Hor, who celebrated the pioneering achievements of Moroccan women in political and civil spheres.
The event concluded with a resounding call to embrace AI as a catalyst for positive change, shaping a more equitable world where gender boundaries are blurred.
