Guiding Morocco's Renewable Energy Future: Tarik Moufaddal Leads the Charge

Morocco's commitment to sustainable energy receives a significant boost as Tarik Moufaddal assumes the role of Chief Executive Officer at the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN). Moufaddal's appointment, endorsed during a ministerial council led by King Mohammed VI in Casablanca, marks a pivotal moment in the nation's renewable energy trajectory.

Bringing a wealth of expertise to his new position, Moufaddal boasts a diverse professional background. Armed with a Master's degree from the prestigious Ecole des Mines in Paris and an engineering diploma from the Ecole Mohammadia d'Ingenieurs, he navigates the complexities of energy and mobility solutions with finesse.

Prior to his leadership at MASEN, Moufaddal served as the Director of Mobility Solutions for France at Total Energies, refining his strategic acumen. His tenure as General Manager of Total Energies Tanzania from 2019 to 2022 deepened his understanding of the energy sector's dynamics.

Moufaddal's journey through Total Energies showcased his adaptability and forward-thinking approach. From his role as a strategy project manager in France between 2013 and 2015 to his time as a supply manager in Total Energies Africa from 2011 to 2013, he gleaned insights crucial for navigating Africa's energy landscape. His tenure as Strategy and Business Development Manager at Air Total International from 2007 to 2011 further enriched his skill set.

As the steward of Morocco's renewable energy initiatives, MASEN plays a vital role in shaping the nation's sustainable future. The agency spearheads programs aimed at enhancing energy production through environmentally friendly methods, positioning renewable energy as a cornerstone of Morocco's economic strategy.

Morocco's aspirations in renewable energy are ambitious. The nation aims to derive 52% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2030, a goal recognized as the most "credible" target in the MENA region by the Global Energy Monitor. To support this vision, Morocco has invested $56 billion in cost-effective and clean energy projects. Additionally, ongoing projects with a combined capacity of approximately 4.6 gigawatts solidify Morocco's status as a leader in renewable energy.

With Tarik Moufaddal leading MASEN, Morocco's renewable energy ambitions gain a staunch advocate. His diverse professional background and strategic mindset position him as the ideal catalyst for propelling the nation toward a sustainable future, where energy and environmental stewardship harmonize seamlessly.
