France confirms participation in 2026 World Cup amid boycott calls

France has confirmed it will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite calls from some politicians and activists to boycott the tournament. The competition, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, has sparked debate due to U.S. President Donald Trump’s international policies.

Minister of Sports Marina Ferrari stated Tuesday that there is no intention to boycott the World Cup, reaffirming the French national team’s commitment to compete from June 11 to July 19. The announcement comes amid public discussions on whether sports events should be affected by political considerations.
