Disney and Pixar set to release Lilo and Stitch 2 and Incredibles 3 in 2028

Disney and Pixar are preparing a major return to the big screen with the announcement of two highly anticipated animated films scheduled for summer 2028.

The studios confirmed that Lilo and Stitch 2 will premiere on May 26, followed by Incredibles 3 on June 16, positioning both releases at the start of the lucrative summer movie season. The announcement highlights the companies’ continued focus on established franchises that have proven successful with global audiences.

The previous installment of Lilo and Stitch, released in 2025 as a live-action adaptation, achieved remarkable box office success, surpassing the one-billion-dollar mark worldwide. The story, centered on a unique blue creature finding a home with a Hawaiian family, has remained a fan favorite for years.

While details about the sequel remain limited, it has been confirmed that Chris Sanders will return to voice Stitch, maintaining continuity with the original film. The project is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, signaling a creative evolution for the franchise.

Meanwhile, Incredibles 3 will introduce a notable change behind the scenes. Brad Bird, who directed the first two films, will step back from directing duties but remain involved as a writer and producer. The film will instead be directed by Peter Sohn, known for his work on animated features with strong storytelling elements.

The Incredibles series has been one of Pixar’s most successful franchises, with its previous films generating hundreds of millions—and in one case over a billion—dollars globally. Although the plot of the third installment has not yet been revealed, expectations remain high among audiences.

With these announcements, Disney and Pixar reaffirm their strategy of combining nostalgia with new creative directions to maintain their dominance in the global animation industry.
