Citi evacuates Dubai offices following Iranian threats against U.S. banks
American banking giant Citi has evacuated its offices in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, following threats from Iran targeting U.S. and Israeli economic centers in the Gulf region.
According to a banking source, employees were instructed to leave Citi’s offices located in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) and the Oud Metha district due to “heightened security concerns.” The source spoke on condition of anonymity.
Reports indicate that staff from two other companies in the DIFC were also evacuated as a precautionary measure. The move comes amid increasing geopolitical tensions in the Gulf, highlighting the vulnerability of international financial institutions in the region.
Officials and experts emphasize that such evacuations, while disruptive, are intended to ensure the safety of employees and maintain operational continuity in a volatile security environment.
