Christian Stein appointed CEO of Renault Group Spain
Renault Group has appointed Christian Stein as chief executive officer of its Spanish operations, effective July 1, 2026. The move places a senior communications executive at the head of one of the company’s key European industrial hubs as it accelerates its electrification strategy.
Stein currently serves as chief communication officer for Renault Group. He will take on the additional responsibility of leading Renault Group Spain while continuing to oversee global communications. In his new role, he will report directly to François Provost, the group’s chief executive officer. The dual mandate signals an effort to align corporate messaging with industrial execution at a moment of strategic transition for the automaker.
He succeeds Josep María Recasens, who is leaving the company to pursue other professional projects. The leadership change comes amid a broader restructuring of Renault’s governance model in Europe, where the company is reinforcing regional decision-making while maintaining centralized oversight of its global strategy.
Spain remains a central pillar in Renault’s industrial footprint. The country hosts major production sites in Madrid, Valladolid, Palencia and Seville. Renault has operated in Spain for 75 years and maintains a wide commercial network of 482 sales and after-sales points covering Renault, Dacia and Alpine brands. The appointment coincides with the rollout of the futuREady strategic plan and the allocation of five new models to Spanish plants, including electric vehicles built on a new platform designed to support the group’s transition toward electrification.
