CDG Invest Growth set to join Sodalmu in major investment to boost Moroccan beverage brand
CDG Invest Growth is advancing plans to increase its investment presence by signing an agreement to acquire a minority stake in Sodalmu, the Moroccan company behind the popular ICE soft drink brand. This move is pending approval from the Competition Council but is already seen as a key development for the local beverage sector and Moroccan-made products.
The investment, involving CDG Invest Growth’s fifth fund, Capmezzanine V, aims to strengthen Sodalmu’s foothold in the national market amid rising demand for local goods. The ICE brand has established significant recognition in Morocco’s soft drink industry, making this partnership a vote of confidence in the company’s potential for further expansion.
Hassan Laaziri, CEO of CDG Invest Growth, described the deal as more than a financial transaction, highlighting it as a commitment to supporting a Moroccan success story driven by dedicated teams and ambitious growth strategies. The collaboration is anticipated to foster sustainable development for Sodalmu in the coming years.
As a fund manager regulated by Morocco’s Capital Markets Authority and a subsidiary of CDG Invest, CDG Invest Growth targets equity investments in mid-sized and large firms with promising growth trajectories, keeping Morocco central to its portfolio. For this transaction, CDG Invest Growth received legal, financial, tax, and ESG advisory support from DLA Piper, Accuracy, SFM Conseil, and IBIS Consulting, while Sodalmu was assisted by Dentons for legal counsel.
This investment aligns with CDG Invest Growth’s broader strategy to back national champions and support the growth of Moroccan enterprises with solid expansion potential.
