Casablanca continues to reinforce its position as a leading financial hub in Africa, according to the latest edition of the Global Financial Centres Index (GFCI).

The Moroccan city ranked 49th globally among 120 financial centers, gaining seven places over the past year. This progress highlights Casablanca’s growing attractiveness for international investors and confirms its leadership among African financial hubs.

Globally, New York remains in the top position, followed by London and Hong Kong, which continue to dominate the global financial landscape.

In the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Dubai leads the rankings, followed by Abu Dhabi and Doha. Casablanca ranks fourth regionally, reflecting steady progress in a competitive environment.

The GFCI report is based on a wide range of indicators, including data from international institutions such as the World Bank and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. It highlights ongoing shifts in the global financial landscape, with new cities entering top rankings.

Despite these changes, the report notes a general decline in overall scores across financial centers, reflecting global economic uncertainty. Regions such as Latin America and the Caribbean have experienced the most significant declines, while Eastern Europe and Central Asia have shown more resilience.

Casablanca has also made notable progress in the financial technology sector. In the FinTech ranking, the city climbed 20 places to reach 50th position worldwide, demonstrating strong momentum in innovation.

Experts underline that factors such as institutional stability, predictability, and innovation capacity are increasingly important in attracting global investment. In this context, Casablanca is emerging as a strategic bridge between Africa and international markets, strengthening its global role.
