Casablanca: Authorities Begin Demolishing Informal Homes in Sbata
Authorities in Casablanca have launched a demolition campaign targeting informal housing in Douar Annasr 1, located in the Sbata district, as part of an operation carried out under close official supervision.
The intervention began on Wednesday, November 4, with heavy machinery deployed to remove buildings identified for demolition. A substantial security presence accompanied the operation, involving local administrative authorities, police officers and Auxiliary Forces.
Preliminary Inspections Conducted Before Demolition
Before the machinery began dismantling the structures, field inspection committees carried out checks to ensure that homes and premises had been cleared of their belongings.
Once these verifications were completed, bulldozers proceeded with the demolition of the buildings, one after another, under the supervision of the authorities.
Residents Previously Asked to Vacate the Area
The operation followed prior instructions issued to residents, requesting that they leave the premises ahead of the scheduled intervention.
The authorities had therefore taken preliminary steps to prepare the site before launching the demolition work.
The operation in Sbata highlights an ongoing intervention in an area affected by informal construction. Further developments concerning the site and the next stages of the operation remain to be clarified.
