Spain Visa Applications: BLS Rabat Allows Walk-In Submissions Under Specific Conditions
The process of applying for a Spanish visa has become more accessible for certain applicants in Morocco, following a decision by the BLS International visa application centre in Rabat to accept applications without prior appointments under specific eligibility criteria.
The new arrangement targets applicants who have already obtained at least one Schengen visa within the past four years, regardless of the visa's validity period. The measure also extends to their spouses and children under the age of 18, provided they meet the required documentation conditions.
Walk-In Applications Available During Limited Hours
Eligible applicants can visit the BLS International centre in Rabat directly from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., without booking an appointment in advance.
This facility is intended to simplify administrative procedures for individuals with an established Schengen visa history, potentially reducing the difficulties associated with securing an appointment.
However, access to the service is not automatic. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the eligibility requirements before submitting their files.
Previous Passports Required to Prove Visa History
Applicants wishing to benefit from the simplified procedure must bring their previous passports containing their previously issued Schengen visas, together with photocopies of those visas.
These documents are essential for verifying their travel history and confirming that they fall within the category covered by the new arrangement.
The same requirements apply to eligible family members seeking to use this facility through their spouse or parent.
Consular Jurisdiction Remains a Key Requirement
Despite the flexibility introduced by BLS Rabat, applicants must still comply with the territorial jurisdiction rules governing the Spanish Consulate General in Rabat.
The consular jurisdiction associated with an applicant's passport must therefore be checked before travelling to the visa centre.
Importantly, holding a national identity card issued within the Rabat consular area does not necessarily establish eligibility if the applicant's passport falls under a different Spanish consular jurisdiction.
Applicants are consequently advised to verify their administrative status beforehand to avoid having their applications rejected at the submission stage.
Simplifying Access Without Changing Visa Requirements
The initiative represents a procedural improvement for Moroccan travellers with previous Schengen visa experience and their eligible immediate family members.
Nevertheless, the possibility of submitting an application without an appointment should not be confused with relaxed visa approval requirements. Applicants remain subject to the standard administrative procedures and assessment criteria governing Spanish visa applications.
The measure therefore offers greater flexibility at the document-submission stage while preserving the existing consular framework.
