Berlin to allocate €35 billion to space defense against Moscow and Beijing
Berlin announced on Thursday that Germany will invest €35 billion by 2030 in space defense to counter the growing military capabilities of Russia and China in orbit. The statement was made by Defense Minister Boris Pistorius during a conference focused on space security.
“We are establishing structures within the Bundeswehr to defend ourselves and deter effectively,” Pistorius said, accusing Moscow and Beijing of having “rapidly developed their capacity to wage war in space.”
This major investment marks one of Germany’s most ambitious defense initiatives, highlighting the country’s strategic shift toward securing its interests beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
