Morocco's Foreign Minister Advocates for Improved Visa Procedures

Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, highlighted ongoing efforts to address concerns over visa management during bilateral discussions with diplomatic and consular missions accredited in Morocco.

In response to a parliamentary question, Bourita emphasized that the Ministry consistently raises issues related to visa systems and applicant grievances with foreign representatives. He noted the importance of resolving inefficiencies to prevent exploitation by unauthorized intermediaries and agents.

Calls for Dignity and Efficiency

The Ministry has urged foreign authorities to process visa applications promptly and efficiently while respecting the dignity of Moroccan citizens. This is especially crucial for visas related to education and medical treatment, which are often subject to strict deadlines. Bourita stressed that delays in processing can result in significant consequences, including the potential loss of essential rights for applicants.

Additionally, the Ministry advocates for creating a smooth and respectful experience for Moroccan citizens submitting visa applications. It aims to balance respect for international laws and regulations governing visa procedures with the protection of citizens' interests.

Progress Against Unauthorized Agents

Bourita also highlighted significant progress in combating unauthorized intermediaries, particularly in collaboration with European diplomatic missions. For instance, since September, the company handling French visa applications in Morocco has implemented new measures, including identity verification through video calls with applicants before appointment confirmations. These efforts aim to enhance transparency and reduce fraudulent activities.

The Foreign Minister reaffirmed Morocco's commitment to ensuring that its citizens can access visa services under fair and dignified conditions, while continuing to engage with foreign authorities to streamline and improve procedures.
