Egypt to host Arab crisis summit on Palestinian issue
Egypt has announced that it will host an Arab crisis summit on February 27 in Cairo to discuss the recent developments in the Palestinian issue. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Cairo's call for this summit was made in coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain, the current president of the Arab Summit and the Arab League Secretariat.
The Ministry further explained that high-level consultations and coordination had been carried out with various Arab nations, including the State of Palestine, which had requested the summit.
On Saturday evening, the Arab League confirmed that ongoing efforts are being made to hold a summit addressing the Palestinian question.
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, spoke with the Egyptian channel "Cairo News" about the current consultations to prepare for the summit. He emphasized that the Arab League's actions aim to confront Israel's accusations and reaffirm the two-state solution principle.
Zaki stressed that the Arab position is unified, with all Arab nations standing behind Palestine, Egypt, and Jordan, while rejecting any plans for displacement.
A Palestinian government spokesperson, quoted by the Jordanian channel Al-Mamlaka, stated that hosting the Arab summit is crucial to send a clear message to those attempting to enforce plans that Palestinians do not accept.
