Morocco and Ukraine sign key agreement to boost international transport cooperation

Morocco and Ukraine have formalized a significant agreement on international road transport during the Global Forum on Transport Connectivity held in Istanbul. The accord was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Abdessamad Kayouh, and Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Community Development, Territories, and Infrastructure, Serhiy Derkach.

The agreement is set to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two nations by easing the transport of passengers and goods. It grants Ukrainian transport companies the ability to move goods to Morocco and allows Moroccan companies to ship cargo through Europe to Ukraine.

Kayouh emphasized the strategic importance of this accord, noting that both countries are already working to expand it into broader areas of cooperation. Derkach echoed this sentiment, stating that the development of road transport and logistics is a national priority for Ukraine. He highlighted that opening new routes and forming additional partnerships will help stimulate the Ukrainian economy by facilitating trade flows. He also expressed appreciation to Morocco for its collaborative spirit and the signing of this mutually advantageous agreement.

Morocco’s active participation at the international level was also reflected in its presence at the Global Forum, held from June 27 to 29 in Istanbul. Led by Kayouh, the Moroccan delegation included Ambassador Mohamed Ali Lazrak and several key officials from the transport and road safety sectors.

This high-level event brought together ministers, international organization representatives, financial institutions, private sector actors, and experts to explore strategies for enhancing and developing global transport corridors.
